Gully Update 2/11/ 02

Police moved in at 4.00 am on Tuesday morning (29/10) and began removing people from lock ons and trees. The protest moved to the Council office on Tuesday afternoon where a sit in was held.

On Wednesday, a meeting of concerned residents was held with all levels of government.

Thursday the Highgate Hill Protection Society were in the Land and Environment Court.

Results from court and the meetings will be posted ASAP.

Here’s how you can help

As much of the community will know, many concerned local residents are actively delaying clearing work on the Gully site between Brydon and Derby Streets in Highgate Hill (using nonviolent methods)

There are a lot of activities any local resident can take to support efforts to save the Gully.

We have attached sample letters that you can send to the Council, State Government and our Federal MP. Please sign and date these letters, preferably including your name and home address at the top of the page and post these letters off immediately.

We are in the process of organising a meeting with all levels of government to push for the state acquisition of the land and your letters and phone calls will make all the difference.
